Music Ministry in the Parish

Ministry & Leadership

Decorative

Tuesday 14 October 2025

Thousands of churches sing every week, with music led by organ, choir, band, solo guitar, CD or even lyric videos from YouTube.

Those engaged in music ministry are often volunteers, usually part time and their experience is shaped by the communities they serve.

  • How do we nurture and develop the musicians in our churches?
  • Why should we sing the old hymns?
  • Why should we sing the new songs?
  • Is there a place for everybody, and how do we manage that balance?
  • Do we need an instrument to sing in worship?

All these, and many more interesting questions will be unpacked in the company of a small panel of practitioners, drawn from the laity and clergy. Come along prepared to bring your own stories and share with one another.

How do we help our music ministry to flourish, so that in turn it may serve a flourishing church?
