  • Chaplain: HMP Foston Hall

    The job holder will provide for the religious care of prisoners and staff in the Anglican faith tradition and appropriate pastoral care for all irrespective of faith or tradition.

    The job holder will work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of the specification Faith and Pastoral Care and also the broader work of chaplaincy in delivering faith and non-faith based courses. Will contribute to the process by which the Governor and Head of Chaplaincy/Profession at HQ are assured that the specification is being delivered.

    The job holder will engage with, and build contacts with their own faith community towards aiding the resettlement of offenders.

We have a unique opportunity to reimagine what the church of the future might look like without the historical restriction of traditional parish churches.

    Purpose of Role
    To grow a sustainable children’s and schools ministry through Telford Minster. Helping children and young people to come to Christ and develop a discipleship relationship with him.

    We are looking for a Children’s and Schools’ Pastor who is

    - Passionate about children and them becoming followers for Jesus for themselves.
    - Faithful in prayer and studying of the bible.
    - Able to engage with adults and children in school and church environments.
    - Able to bridge the gap between good schools’ work and church engagement.
    - Believes strongly that the local church has an active role to play in schools across Telford.
    - Willing to take risks to enable children in schools and church to encounter Christ for themselves.
    - Comfortable in a school environment, with large groups, or on a one to one basis.
    - Passionate about raising up others to build a team to join them in delivering the work to schools and church.
    - Point children, parents and school leaders to events and services in the local area and church.
    - Could pioneer new ways of reaching out to children in an age appropriate way. As well as developing fresh expression of church.
    - Willing to discern where God is leading and direct children’s and schools’ work in that direction.

    - Faithful in prayer and study of the Bible, seeking to grow in relationship with God.
    - Able to engage with young people at an age appropriate level.
    - Able to work alongside other youth work organisations and schools in and around Telford.
    - Able to bridge the gap between good school’s work and church engagement.
    - Willingness to take risks in rolling God’s call.
    - Able to lead or acquire the skills to lead youth congregations, including fresh expressions
    - Comfortable working with young people from a range of backgrounds.
    - Willing to discover new ways of reaching young people in and around Telford.
    - Work within a team.
    - Able to discern gifting in youth and adults and enabling them to grow.
