Deepening Faith |
![]() Thursday 12 March 2026When thinking about what ‘discipleship’ might look like, the New Testament tends to be the starting point for our thinking and inquiry. Whether Martha or Bartimaeus, whether Mary Magdalene or the post- Damascus Road Paul, it is generally New Testament figures to whom we go to in such discussion. How, though, does the Old Testament contribute to such thinking? How might figures from the Old Testament also help shape our understanding about what it might mean to follow God faithfully? What might we learn from Sarah and Joshua, or from Daniel and Deborah? These sessions consider several Old Testament examples and how they might help us in our own discipleship practice. In each one we’ll look at a pair of characters, and how their actions and faith (or lack of it) provide insights for contemporary Christian living. The focus for this session will be Esther and Daniel. Who is it for: Anyone who preaches or has an interest in deepening their Bible knowledge Course Hosts: Dr David Allen (Academic Dean and Tutor in New Testament, The Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham) Time: 7:30pm - 9:30pm Venue: Online Cost: Free Booking Link: https://www.cognitoforms.com/LichfieldDiocese/_20260312BiblicalStudiesDiscipleshipInTheOldTestamentEstherAndDaniel |
