Our Vision

Strategy 2025-30 - Seeking the Kingdom

  • Vision is our dream, where we see ourselves in the future.
  • Strategy is the plan that fulfils the vision.
  • Goals are waypoints or markers which show our direction.

For the five years from 2025-2030, Lichfield Diocese, its parishes, chaplaincies, schools and cathedral are focusing their ministry, activity and service around a strategic plan: ‘Seeking the Kingdom' - download as a pdf

This plan has been worked out from our vision. Lichfield Diocese’s vision is encapsulated in a prayer:

Vision prayer

"As we follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, we pray that the two million people in our diocese encounter a church that is confident in the gospel, knows and loves its communities, and is excited to find God already at work in the world. We pray for a church that reflects the richness and variety of those communities. We pray for a church that partners with others in seeking the common good, working for justice as a people of hope."

Bishop Michael’s ten Bible studies, one for each goal, can be read in ‘Seeking the Kingdom - on Foot‘ Bible studies: download as pdf or email Richard Barrett with requests for paper copies (while available)

By praying together, feeding and supporting one another as followers of Jesus, by building one another up we can reimagine and revitalise our ministry, and as a diocesan family we can journey together.

During his recent pilgrimage, Bishop Michael brought the strategy to life in parishes by means of ten bible passages, one of each of the strategic goals. You can see the themes of these bible studies in the downloadable document

Seeking the Kingdom, sets out all these things: vision, strategy and goals as well as one more thing: the means: the tasks and plans that will drive us forward:

Ten Goals

no fewer than 30 young people per year aged between 18 and 30 who are called to leadership being supported through a high-quality development programme offered by the diocese

the age profile of each worshipping community reflecting the age profile of the community which it serves

a strengthened culture of vocation amongst all God’s people, and at least 30 new licensed lay ministers and 30 ordinations a year
