Help spread Places of Welcome

Published: 15th June 2017

People are being urged to back a crowdfunding campaign which will offer a warm welcome in local communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

The campaign is for a Places of Welcome coordinator for Staffordshire and Stoke so that there are recognised places in every neighbourhood where people can freely connect, contribute and belong.

There are a selection of imaginative rewards for people who pledge money to the campaign which already has one-third of the funds required for the coordinator.

Rewards include tours of historic churches across Staffordshire as detailed here:

  • Stafford/St Mary, Saturday 5th August
  • Tamworth/St Editha, Saturday 5th August
  • Leek/St Edward, Saturday 5th August
  • Lichfield Cathedral Special, Saturday 12th August
  • Alrewas/All Saints, Saturday 12th August
  • Cheddleton/St Edward, Saturday 19th August
  • Kinver/St Peter Saturday 19th August

David Primrose, the Dioceses Director of Transforming Communities, said: The Places of Welcome movement is a growing network of hospitality run by local community groups who want to make sure that everyone in their area has a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation if and when they need it. The primary aim of the Places of Welcome network is that every neighbourhood has places where all people feel safe to belong, connect and contribute. We want to extend this network across Staffordshire and Stoke.
