Mental Health First Aid
Mental health is an issue with some frightening statistics - we will all know close friends and family who struggle with periods of poor mental wellness. And yet, as churches, we haven't been consistently able to spot the signs or provide basic care when we do.
Using the two-day adult course from MHFA England, the Diocese has offered training to 64 people around the Diocese who will be able to cascade some of that awareness to their local congregations and communities.
The uptake for the courses has been high, with virtually all places being filled within a few weeks and those continuing to express and interest are being added to a reserve list. You can add your interest by email.
Lifting the Lid
The Diocese has also commissioned, piloted and is now able to share freely a six-session study series for small groups in churches, chaplaincies, schools and elsewhere looking at some of the issues in mental health through the eyes of six Bible passages.
Listening Ear is the counselling support network in the Diocese of Lichfield. This Service is available to all Clergy and their families, to other licensed lay ministers and to LDBF employees.
