We all know that each community and church is unique, facing your own challenges to accessibility. Therefore we offer the Enabling All Awards as a tool to work together to develop the accessibility of your church and support you in complying with the Equality Act 2010.
We have learned that often small, inexpensive changes can make a huge difference to the experience of access and belonging to our church communities.
Our awards programme provides a helpful structure for churches to grow in accessibility through three key areas:
Empowering People
Engage with individuals (with their consent) to understand their specific barriers and needs. Listen to the experts, the people with lived experience
Embracing the Space
Consider an accessibility audit, take action on reasonable adjustments, and clearly communicate what your space offers and what it doesn't.
Embedding Accessibility
Make accessibility part of your church culture—an ongoing journey that’s regularly discussed and acted upon, whether in a group or as part of your PCC.
To Get an Award
Firstly get in touch with Enabling All, and together with your Priest or PCC we agree 3 actions . You may already have ideas and if you don't we have lots of ideas of small changes that can make a big difference. You will receive a certificate signed by Bishop Michael Ipgrave, Bishop of Lichfield. The award lasts for a year.
