Vocations and Training

The Vocations and Training team is headed by Revd Dr Jeanette Hartwell, and encourages, nurtures and equips those exploring vocations and those training for formal ministry. Discernment and support for lay and ordained ministry is offered by a team of Vocation Advisers, Diocesan Assessors, Directors for Ordinands and Vocations and Training Coordinators.

The team offers a range of training and resources for discipleship as well as diocesan training for Lay Ministry.

Vocations & Training Team Lead

Jeanette has overall responsibility for the Vocations & Training Team.  The team incorporates: Lay training (including Reader training), Curate training, licensing and ordination, continuing ministerial development (CMD), ministry development review (MDR) and clergy wellbeing.

She also oversees the Team as they aim to encourage people across the diocese to think about, and discover, their vocation.

Romita has the responsibility for encouraging and nurturing vocations to ordained ministry. She is also responsible for establishing and implementing ordination strategies in the diocese. Romita also oversees the team of Assistant Directors of Ordinands.

Pamela works with Jeanette supporting curates in IME Phase 2 and developing provision for continued ministerial flourishing.  She also co-convenes the Racial Justice and Inclusion Task Group with the Archdeacon of Walsall

Lichfield Diocese is keen to encourage and develop the varied and interesting ministries of our clergy as well as enable reflection and share best practice in priestly ministry: Maureen's role helps clergy stay in touch with their sense of vocation as well as overseeing all ESL (Extended Study Leave / sabbatical) applications.

Helen works with those at the beginning of their vocational journey and with those interested in lay ministries. Helen supports those on Reader Training and also oversees Pathways and Living Discipleship.

Angela works with those exploring ordination, training for ordained ministry and those in curacy.  Angela is a key point of liaison between the diocese and ordinands/curates throughout initial ministerial training.

Bishops Adviser for Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

Sally has responsibility for coordinating the Listening Ear counselling support network in the Diocese of Lichfield available to all clergy and their families and to licensed lay ministers and to LDBF employees. The service also offers individual Pastoral supervision and ministerial accompaniment.  

Sally is also able to offer confidential one-to-one conversations for people to explore pastoral or personal difficulties.
