Our Communities

The Church of England has a byline that goes:

A Christian presence in every community.

That is provided in number of ways -

  • Our Churches are often the most visible and the basis of our parish structure, but also through:
  • Our Schools - both those which are 'church schools', founded by the Church of England and community schools in which our church communities provide support in many ways
  • Our Chaplaincies are much less visible, but every hospital, prison and military establishment provides spiritual and wellbeing care for their staff and patients/inmates offering both communal acts of worship and individualy support
  • Our Cathedral (or as the Dean, Bishop Jan McFarlane insists, Your Cathedral as all are welcome to vist, enjoy and be supported by) is the
  • Our Retreat Houses - both providing opportunities for relaxation and refreshment, whether through organised events or training or simply escape to a quite place. • Our Diocesan Staff are a great bunch of professional providing support to all the above with various amounts of advice, expertise and support for the myriad practical, spiritual and legal elements needed in a complicated world.

In this section you'll also find
