A major national conference supported in part by the Bishop's Lent Appeal takes place on June 3.

The Enabling Church conference is attracting people from across the country. It is being hosted in West Bromwich and will be opened by the Bishop of Wolverhampton, the Rt Revd Clive Gregory.

It is organised by Churches For All, a partnership of nine UK Christian charities commited to disabled people: 10 million or 1 in 5 adults in the UK population have a recognised disability.

David Primrose, Director of Transforming Communities in Lichfield Diocese says
"Jesus' own ministry, the Acts of the Apostles and the early church challenged artificial distinctions that exclude others from community & church life. Church is for all."

"The gospel has always been about valuing the part that every single person plays within the body of Christ and this conference is about overcoming the barriers of disability."

The conference will have dedicated streams on Disability, Dementia and Deafness.

Another stream will focus on families and carers of those with disability.

The conference takes place on Tuesday 3 June from 10.00 to 4.30 at Bethel Convention Centre, Kelvin Way, West Bromwich. Click for further details and booking.
