NewRevs 2025 - Jules Smith

Jules was brought up in Lichfield however spent ten years of her life living on the west coast of Scotland where her husband, Frank was serving as a submariner in the Royal Navy. She moved back to the Midlands in 2002. They have two daughters. Alex, who is 28 and lives in Burton, is a graphic designer. Alex loves to game and lives with her little cat, Frida. Becca is 24 and will be living in our family home in Lichfield. She is an HR Assistant. Becca loves to sing and plays the flute and keyboard. Becca will be living with a cat not long after Jules and Frank have departed their family home! Jules and Frank have four gorgeous, crazy ragdoll cats - Esther, Elsie, Teddy & Bertie, who really think that they are dogs. They love tummy rubs and playing fetch and catch with Pom Pom's.

One of Jules’ favourite things to do is sing! She has been part of many choirs and really enjoys singing lots of different kinds of music. Jules likes to crochet…but this is still learning in progress. She loves to dance, read and do anything arts and crafty. Her latest artistic discovery is throwing pots probably inspired by the Great British Pottery Throw-down!

Jules has a background in primary education and has spent the last thirty-three years growing, teaching and nurturing children from birth to eleven years. This was a very rewarding career, and she learnt a lot. Jules ministered to children, staff and many families while working in primary education. She had a real heart for pastoral care and for talking about Jesus alongside her leadership with children and their families especially.

Having loved teaching for nearly twenty years, she felt God calling her to a different kind of plan for the next season of her life. After working in education, Jules felt that she could continue her ministry in a different way, so began discernment for ordination. She realised that her experience and skills of leading in schools and churches over time would be very helpful in her future ministry.

For anyone considering ordination, Jules would say – just do it! God wastes nothing in our lives. She believes that any skills we might have can be used to serve God wherever he calls us. Training might be daunting and scary but there is a lot of support for people from all walks of life in colleges to ensure you succeed. Training helps you deepen your relationship with God and challenges you to understand why you believe what you do.
