• Have an adult or two keen on the idea of a full-immersion baptism?
  • Not already got a big hole in your floor and not keen on changing that!?
  • Not got a friendly swimming pool anywhere handy?
  • Or perhaps youd really like to keep the service in your existing building?

Below are some of the ideas picked up by the Parish Mission Department;

Mobile Baptistries

If youre in the Stoke area, there is one that is based at St Stephens Church in Bentilee (part of the Bucknall team). It comes flat-packed with firm wooden sides but a rubber lining to prevent leakage; it also comes with the blessing of a water heater! If you might be interested in using it, get in touch with the Parish Administrator Mrs Lynn Brough on 01782 279300 or on email. They dont charge for hire, but a courtesy gift could be appreciated.

Similarly, if you are in the Wolverhampton area, there is one at St Albans Church in Wednesfield. Simply contact Mrs Debbie Dale on 01922 407924 or on email

Or in Walsall, try St Matthews overlooking the town centre. Ask Revd Jim Trood (email or 07939 587208)

We have also come across a professional organisation that offers portable baptistries for hire and for sale, do check out their options and prices here

Birthing Pools

One of the largest churches in the Diocese has recommended that these can similarly be put to good effect. They come in all shapes and sizes and a quick internet search should show you that you have a number of options to suit your location and budget. We also quite like the idea of emphasising this very different kind of new birth!
