The new Festival of Cration in Christ is an addition to the church's calendar given final approval in July 2026's General Synod, along with the Commemoriation of the 21 Martyrs of Libya, a group of Christian men martyred in 2015.
Bishop Michael, as the outgoing Chair of the Liturgical Commission was instrumental in bringing this Festival into being.

Marking the first celebration of the festival, Bishop Michael will preside at the the Eucharist at 10:30am on 6 September at Lichfield Cathedral and the evensong that day will use the Creation in Christ readings. Folllowing evensong there will be a bible study and discussion with Bishop Michael and the green team.
Also marking the new festival, Bishop Michael will be walking a pilgrimage on 4 and 5 September and invites others to join him.Maps can be downloaded and viewed below. It it would be lovely if people in the diocese came to walk with +Michael.
On day one - Friday 4, the pilgrimage will start from one of our gold eco churches, St Michael's Rushall. The route aims to follow a number of those churches who have committed to eco-church ending in the Reflection Gardens at Beaudesert. The route is shown in two maps side by side.
Day two -Saturday 5, will start at Beaudesert and finish at the Cathedral. Each stop would aim to be no longer than 15 minutes. Two maps above and below, scroll down.
