Anticipating Advent 2020

The annual service known as Anticipating Advent has been a focal activity of the long-standing partnership between our diocese and the Nordkirche. Advent has now been celebrated with a special service (alternating between venues within our diocese and Germany) for at least 18 years. The service has traditionally been held on the eve of the First Sunday of Advent and has formed part of a three or four-day programme of activities including themed workshops, mini-conferences and visits to places of religious and cultural interest.

In 2004, the service was held in Telford and it was our intention to hold it there again this year. The current difficulties with the COVID-19 outbreak has naturally caused us to come up with an alternative plan and so we’re going online. A service containing contributions from both the UK and Germany is being put together for all to share at 6.30pm on Saturday, 28th November. As the service is being recorded, to maintain an element of live participation, it will be preceded with a zoom workshop and followed by a zoom fellowship chat room. Please join us if you can!
