Parish Share during Covid-19

Parish Share Contributions – a message from the Director of Finance

We are living in a new age of uncertainty and financial pressure which has never been seen before during peace time and we believe that as the diocesan family, we have to work together to ensure the safety, and survival of all our members not just from the diocesan perspective but for all our parishes and organisations who promulgate the Gospel here in this diocese.  Paying parish share may not feel like a priority to you at this particular moment in time but I can’t emphasise to you enough how important it is for your parish to keep paying something regularly towards share over the next few months.  Our very financial Strategy relies on a certain level of share coming into the diocese and it is in that contribution we can try and support and help our parishes through the difficult weeks and possibly months ahead.  I realise that the usual fundraising from Church Fayres to the humble Coffee Morning are no longer being permitted, but some parishes have generously agreed to continue with their regular direct debit or standing order and one or two of our quite small parish has also agreed to a reduced but regular monthly contribution, and their consideration is greatly appreciated.  The Finance Team is working hard to keep you updated with any initiatives which may help to encourage your parishioners to make use of the Giving Direct Scheme and other on-line ways of Giving.  Freeing up designated funds in the short term may be a way of using available cash which can be replenished later in the year.

If you usually send a cheque to pay your Share, please consider using a Bank Transfer as St Mary’s House is now closed and we only go into the office periodically to pick up post; or alternatively, you can down load a direct debit mandate here  and scan and email it back to us which means we can collect regular amounts from your bank and has the added flexibility of us being able to change these amounts each month.

If you need to change your Direct Debit we would usually require at least 3 working days to implement these changes:

In the meantime we continue to pray for our parishes and their congregations across the Diocese during this time, but please get in touch with us to tell us if it is your intention to stop or reduce your regular contributions finance@lichfield.anglican.org.
