Log-on2-God at Lichfield Cathedral
2012 – GROW UP!
A Christian Viewpoint on Real Life Issues
Log on to God - L2G is a whole day's project for Year 9 pupils held in Lichfield cathedral each May.
The dates for 2012 are Tuesday 22nd May - Friday 25th May.
Time: 9.50 am - 3.00
Each day offers young people a Christian perspective on some real and relevant life issues. This year our theme will be the challenges and responsibilities that come with growing up and being treated as an adult.
The cathedral provides the context of a place where Christians have grappled with life questions for centuries. Under the guidance of present day Christians from many walks of life pupils will be challenged to consider what a Christian perspective may have to offer young people facing the pressures of life today.
The day is suitable for any pupils, although some of the material may provide a link into some GCSE modules.
Of what does the day consist?
- An interactive trail around the magnificent cathedral building.
- Activities centred round a stage area, which may include music from a band, drama and interactive icebreakers as well as introductions.
- Workshop sessions exploring the challenges of moving into Year 10, and possible ways of handling the responsibilities and freedoms this may bring. Professional youth workers will lead each workshop. The content aims to be relevant and challenging for Year 9 pupils.
- A lunch break with opportunities to explore the cathedral further and to visit our bookshop and a fair-trade tuckshop.
- An opportunity for pupils to explore one issue such as peer pressure, addiction, conflict, the media, relationships, the supernatural and the challenges of the developing world in more depth during a one-hour workshop.
- A final presentation to link the day together.
The charge to cover all the expenses of the day will be £5.00 per pupil.
