The Diocese of Lichfield is the Church of England in most of Staffordshire

The Diocese of Lichfield is the Church of England in most of Staffordshire (including Stoke-on-Trent), the northern half of Shropshire (including most of Telford and the Wrekin); Walsall,  Wolverhampton; and half of Sandwell.

It is one of the oldest and largest of the Church of England's 44 dioceses, serving a population of just under two million people in 1,744 square miles of the north-west Midlands.  We trace our roots back to AD664 when Saint Chad moved the See of Mercia (AD656) from Repton to Lichfield.

Emergency Appeal for Myanmar (Burma)

The four bishops in the Diocese of Lichfield have issued an emergency appeal for prayers and cash to help the people of Myanmar (Burma).

You can support the appeal by cheque or internet banking.

Every penny received from this appeal will be used to aid the people of Burma, primarily through the Anglican Church in Myanmar working with the mission agency USPG: Anglicans in World Mission.

    The Lambeth Conference and CrossTalk

Bishops and their spouses from around the world will gather in Canterbury from 16th July to 4th August for the Lambeth Conference.  Ahead of this 10-yearly gathering of Anglican Bishops, our partner dioceses will be sending mission teams of laity, clergy and bishops for a series of local missions as part of the Cross Talk initiative which will also include an international mission conference, a festival and a youth conference, together with a pre-Lambeth international celebration in Lichfield Cathedral.

The Bishop of Wolverhampton, the Rt Revd Clive Gregory, says "Modern secular society may be sceptical of religion but there is no reason to believe that there is any less hunger for, or receptiveness to, authentic Christian witness" in his pastoral letter for May's parish magazines.
